ETHICS IN AI Supported Writing

ETHICS IN AI Supported Writing Online

In this Webinar, Dr Kirstin Krauss, research advisor to the WWIS academy, introduces emergent cases and challenges associated with AI-supported and AI-generated writing. He also reflects on how the scholarly community can keep on nurturing the integrity and validity of science in the wake of AI.

AI-powered writing support tools like Grammarly, Writefull, INK,ContentBot, Rytr, and others, have been available for a while now. However, the recent release of ChatGPT, certainly got the scholarly community talking about the possibilities and risks of AI-authored publications. Publishers are scrambling to revisit policies and screening tools and lecturers are talking about adding an AI policy to their syllabi.

AI-authored and AI-assisted writing is here to stay. From a scientific point of view, one needs to consider the ethics of AI-powered writing, and at the same time determine how AI can help the scholarly community remain relevant.
